The Linux 2.6 kernel has the most up-to-date USB 2.0 support, as well as quite a number of other USB updates and cleanups.The 2.4.19 kernel was the first to bundle a 2.4 based version of the ehci-hcd driver, but avoid using anything older than 2.4.22. Expect any 2.4 version to be less current than the 2.5 version; it's also not being updated to match 2.6 any more.Older Linux distributions include a 2.4.18 based version that's much like the original 2.5 patch, though more recent distributions (including RedHat 9) match a good 2.4.21-pre level.
